Mario Suárez Porras on Salvaje Fest 2025
Born in 1968 in Asturias, where he lives and works as a primary school teacher, striving to instill in his students a love for nature.
He has been involved in photography since the age of thirteen, when his father gave him his first reflex camera. With the arrival of digital photography, he began focusing on bird photography, which has become his passion today, aiming to portray an artistic vision of birds.
He lives near the Cantabrian coast, a great place for photographing seabirds and their migrations. For the past twenty years, he has spent countless hours photographing these traveling birds and has specialized in them.
He has participated in various national and international exhibitions and presentations on bird photography, and has been published in prestigious nature magazines and newspapers.
He is the author of the photography book “Inspired by Birds” (2023), which showcases his work with birds from a creative perspective, and he is also the co-author of several books on nature photography.
He has been awarded in most of the major international nature photography competitions and has served as a judge in several of them, including the Princess of Asturias Awards.
He is a Canon Pro Master Photographer for Canon Spain and a brand ambassador in Spain for renowned nature photography brands such as Canon and Buteo Gear.
He is an active member of various nature organizations, but what he is most proud of is being a founding member of AFONAS, the Asturian Nature Photographers’ Society, of which he is currently president.
